Medical insurance has undergone dramatic changes in the past few years. As of 2014, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) makes it required by law that every individual be covered either under their own policy, or those provided by an employer. Any person who does not have medical insurance is subject to a fee. The ACA has also made changes to the enrollment processes. Prior to 2014, an individual could purchase medical insurance at any time they wished to. Since the enactment of the ACA, individuals can now only purchase medical insurance during the annual open enrollment (AEP) period.
This period extends from November 1st of the current year, to January 31st of the following year. Certain individuals can obtain insurance outside of the AEP if they meet certain qualifying life events. Some of these events are: moving from one coverage area to another, involuntary loss of other coverage, change in marital status, birth of a child, and meeting the eligibility requirements for an employer.
K.O.R. Insurance offers individual and group medical insurance. We are an independent insurance agency, which permits us to shop for you to find the best rates possible. While many other agents consider their job done after the policy is active, we do not. Rather, we feel that our job is just beginning. We will service your policy for you, saving you the time, headache, and emotional stress of dealing with claims questions.
What does this service cost you? Apart from your insurance premium, nothing! Using K.O.R. Insurance Services will not cost you any more than if you were to purchase the policy directly from the company. What’s the catch? There isn’t one, we get paid by the insurance company to represent you and your policy. If you are considering buying insurance, please give us the pleasure of assisting you. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain!
